Guy Co-Worker asked for my Instagram but didn’t follow me?

He gave me a compliment as I was was working at the front desk. We made small talk relating to my age, work, and school. He asked for my Instagram then stood to the side and scrolled through all my pictures as I had to assist other visitors coming in. Few minutes later he tells me bye or “see you later” I can’t remember.

I checked my Instagram and he never followed me. I was wondering why ask for my Instagram if you had no plans on following?
