How to know he is still hurt and still likes me after a jealous incident?

I was obsessed w/ him for a while, then I told him and he said he liked me back but he wasn't ready. We separated and a few months ago we got back together (as friends) and he admitted he was jealous before bc I had posted about a dude I met a prom and that it hurt. We haven't said anything about liking eachother again (mostly for me because he is now taken) but we still low-key flirt and we still have that connection we have always had, that I just can't help falling in love with him. Recently we vibed and flirted a bit again but he mentioned the dude I went to prom with and when I mentioned his obsession with mentioning this dude, he just put a rolling eye emoji. I want to know why he still thinks about this dude.
