Girls, when a guy makes eye contact with you and you instantly look away, what could this mean?

When I'm in public, and girls make eye contact with me a lot of them instantly look away, they could be the ones looking at me and then when I look at them all of a sudden they act like I don't exist, 😂 sometimes as we're walking past each other it's like their minds go blank and they just stare straight ahead as they go by as if there's a wall beside them, at times I find this a little odd because it seems they've already mentally blocked me out before either of us gives a friendly acknowledgement of the other, haha, let alone before I could respond to being looked at.

Personally give me your take on scenarios like these, what are some of the reasons you might instantly look away, even if you initiated it.

You stand out to them or they are on drugs. Or maybe they find you attractive ☺️

Ok, I generally figured, but how would that tie into them instantly cutting eye contact and keeping it cut? I mean, they can't all be THAT shy?

I see.. It may be interesting to initiate a conversation with one of them, see how she reacts, observe her body language and verbal cues to get a better read and go from there.
