Why would a guy suddenly stop talking to you if everything was good?

Ok so this older guy I been dealing with have been dating me for almost 3 months now. We never had sex even though he wanted to but he was very patient and even wanted to wait for all of that. Recently we were otp , good conversation and I told him I wanted to see him that night. He said ok I wanna see you too and told me he would call me back in about an hour after he leave hanging out with his homeboy (one of them I met). So I said ok. As time goes on it’s getting late , and it’s midnight still no call or text. by the way this was on a Friday night. So then Saturday comes I still here nothing from him. Now it’s Sunday and nothing still. So I am very confused on what happened. There was no argument , we been talking normally , he calls me and all. He even insisted I be more direct if I wanna see him and that’s why I took his feedback and said ok I want to see you. Any reasonings as to why he would not just say anything , I’m very confused.. on what’s wrong
