Is my boyfriend jealous of my 13 yo son? Is this normal for men?

My boyfriend keeps making references to my son who is super tall for 13. He is almost 6-foot 230lbs. My boyfriend is 5' 10" and 165lbs. He won't let me buy him new shoes because he says that his and my sons shoe size is the same, I just THINK his foot is larger (False!), plus other things about he's too tall, he will take over... etc. Is this normal or is my boyfriend putting out jealous vibes. He did state that my son is trying to be tough and throw his weight around, and he may need to drop him down a peg or two. I don't know what that means, but he says if I don't agree with him, then we can no longer parent together, he says, " Get with the program". or get out. How do I get him to see my son as not a threat?
