Is my dad jealous of my boyfriend?

I get kind of frustrated whenever my dad gives off this attitude like he doesn't want to hear anything about my boyfriend who I love very much. Its not that he doesn't like him, he does and he's fine with him, etc but you know as a father, he's always going to be weary of anyone I date. I understand but it doesn't give him the right to have this childish attitude whenever the subject of my boyfriend comes up. Im in my twenties but I am the baby of the family so he's always had this extra love and protection for me so that can also add up to his "jealousy."

I just don't like how he doesn't wanna hear about it like what's your problem? He's sucha hater lol. I'll be like "oh look he's at..." "oh..." and makes this face like "so what?"

It could also be because of who my boyfriend is. He's really smart, confident, handsome, handy, etc so maybe he's just jealous of how I have a good man with me. Like I said, it's not that he doesn't like him cause whenever he sees him, he likes talking to him and they get along. So it might just be envious/jealousy which I find ridiculous and he's going to have to get over it.

Are you insane or what? Why would he be jealous? May be you talk about him nonstop which is just irrelevant for him. And your dad probably knows the harsh reality that men or your boyfriend is not really like what women generally think of their husband or boyfriend.
This pisses him off and nothing else. He is not in competition to be jealous. He has lived his life, had a girlfriend and probably beautiful daughter from her. So stop thinking like that !

I know it sounds crazy but I even asked my mom and she said yes he could possibly be a little jealous.

And no I don't talk about him that often but when I do, I might come off as happy but shouldn't he be happy that I'm happy with my bf? I'm not like crying or depressed. I just wish he had a better attitude when I talked about him, not all bothered by it.

He might be getting little upset sometimes that her daughter doesn't need daddy's love anymore.

Maybe but ughhh it's really silly of him to act this way. I can't stand it. I'm just going to keep defending my boyfriend whenever my dad pokes fun at him or hates on him for absolutely no reason.

he's not jealous nor envious. he just doesn't care about that person and doesn't want to get attached. im the same with my sisters boyfriend i didn't even want to see what he looked like if he's with her long enough to matter then i will start caring if not i could care less its just useless info.

No I mean I think you are half right about not caring about the little things but as my father, he does care who I'm with out and about of course so it's that he doesn't care.

ill try to explain it better. he cares if you're happy he doesn't care about the guy at all unless your relationship was serious like youve been together for a few years or you're getting married or something

Yeah I guess you can say that. Until we're like engaged or something, he'll take us seriously. But that still doesn't justify as to why he has this bad attitude towards him.

Mmmm I don't think so because he's not like that with my sister's boyfriend. If she talks about him to my dad, he's open to hearing about it but when it comes to me talking about my boyfriend, he gets all rude and doesn't wanna hear it. The other day, I brought up something my boyfriend is doing with his business, and my dad chuckled laughing like trying to make fun of him. I'm telling you, he's envious of him because I got myself a well-rounded prepared man and my dad prob thinks he would be the only man like that in my life. Well no... I think he's being immature about the whole thing and I def don't let him get away with it.

Im literally in a similar situation as you! My dad shows no interest in my boyfriend when he comes over and barely speaks to him, which is why I prefer being at his. Im the eldest out of me and my other sibling so I guess they are experiencing it first hand with me. I wish he would make more effort and talk to him. I get told off for talking about him too much sometimes. Its only natural what we feel though! X

That's all common when it comes to fatherhood but it's just there's something that distinguishes his attitude from the common "father" behavior when it comes to my dude.

Yeah that's what I think and it can be frustrating. He's not like that with my sister's boyfriend. When she talks about him to her, he's open to hearing what's going on. Recently, I told my dad what my boyfriend was up to with his business and he literally chuckled laughing like making fun of him. Why is he sucha hater? I have called him out on being jealous and didn't feel bad. He just looked away like whatever. Ughhhhh

Yeah I have felt bad sometimes and make sure of that I need him and love him, it's just natural. But he's going to have to stop this nonsense. It drives me crazy

Think of his inappropriate behavior as just the smoke. The actual fire is his fear of losing the precious treasure he once had full control of. So trying to get him to behave is just blowing the smoke around while the fire still smolders. Reminding him you'll always love and need him will help extinguish the fire.

No he doesn't dislike him, he thinks he's a good guy but I think that's it, cause he's a good, well-rounded guy who has things going for him and my dad is prob a little jealous that I have a good guy with me and he's not the only good guy in my life anymore.
