Guys' feelings towards me; confess or not: PLEASE HELP?

My guy best friend has recently started acting really weird towards me. We do have a very close relationship with each other, and others keep saying we have a special bond; many think we are secretly dating. Long story short, embarrassingly, I am in love with him but scared to admit it because we have such a strong friendship and I do not want to lose it over silly feelings. However, lately, he has started calling me names like "love", "princess", and such, saying he cannot function without me (I go to college 400 miles away). One time he told me that he only wants to go out of the house/hang out if I am there, and later when I brought that up jokingly, he was taken aback and said "Did I really tell you that". He makes sure to call me every day and we talk for at least 20 minutes. He has an excellent relationship with my family and even makes jokes about marrying me, and how my dad would approve of him. I know I sound like a fool even saying this out loud here, but we have kind of a playful and comfortable relationship, and I don't know if I am reading too much into it or acting like a damn fool because I am scared to confess. Every time we see each other, his hugs are so intimate, I don't know if I am going crazy.

Please help me out if you think this means anything, I am STRUGGLING out here and I don't know what to do. I am so down to provide any additional info but please help a girl out, don't know if I should stuff everything or just confess and risk it. We have had deep convos and he did say that nothing I ever do or say will make him shift his perspective on me, but I do not really want to lose him.

Sounds like he does like you, but here's what you do. If you choose to confess. Because you guys are close friends right, just sit him down and tell him you have feelings for him and let's say for example that he doesn't like you right. Then tell him that you don't want things to change and you love how your friendship is and hope it doesn't ruin anything. And if he says he does like you back. Which if I had to guess I think he does, well then shit it's happy days for everyone. I feel people think confessing their feelings for one another make it seem likes it's a sacred thing you know🤔
If you guys are truly close then even if he doesn't like you I don't think he's just gonna all of a sudden be distant and throw the friendship away, that'd be dumb.

If I put myself in his shoes since I am of the male gender. I'd only joke about marrying a female friend if I found them attractive, but they do call me an asshole so

Take the risk.

But if it don't go all fairytale how you hope. You can't blammeee meee, that's just what I would do and my take on the situation. You know him best. Just think about how he would react if you confessed and he didn't feel the same way. If you can see him still being your friend after. Then I say the reward far outweighs the risk in this situation

Me personally if I was in that situation I'd prefer it if you told me verbally, because if you're gonna be there and he's reading it I feel there's gonna be like an awkward silence while you wait for his response 🤔😂

But you know him best so if you think it'll work fine then go for it for sure. The main point is that you're telling him😌 that's all that matters

Heyy! Turns out he actually has his suspicions but hasn't acted on it, so probably doesn't even like me. Figured it out from a mutual friend that he is sus, so I am not going to do anything tbh
