Why would a guy do this?

I met this guy from a dating app we followed each other on instgram. He asked if Im open to casual /hookup because I was only traveling there for a short time , I rejected him because its not my thing but didn’t block him or anything cause I think he was kinda cute. The next day he directmessage me again not anything sexual seems like he was just trying to have a conversation. I left him on read at night and was going to reply later during the day cause I was busy. When I was going to reply his account was gone. I think he thought I was going to ghost him so he deleted and blocked me at first , but then he actually deleted his whole ig account later on. Why would he do that? Like delete his whole ig account and set his facebook to private that was just so weird to me.
