Is it ok if a guy does not want a management position?

the last year & six months before i left my job of six years
i was a assistant manager. i always hated to have to count the money & make the bank deposits at night when i just wanted to go home after working 12 hour shifts & deal with problems that came along.

i just got a job as a cashier at walgreens making 16.25 an hour thats only 15 cents less then i was making as a assistant manager.

i was telling my old co worker at my old job that the walgreens manager offered me a keyholder position but i turned it down & took a cashier position.

my old coworker asked me why i turned it down i said i just did not want the headache but he was like you should have taken it.

Yeah that is completely fine that you don't want it. Obviously it was not for you and you learned that. What does being a guy have to do with it though? Just curious since you put that in your post. I wouldn't think any less of you if you didn't want to do something that you previously had a bad experience with. You are smart and didn't get back into something you hated. I would expect anyone in your shoes to do the same thing.

i put guy because i know some women.

when they meet a guy they usally want him to have a higher postion

Nah as long as you are doing what you like then that is all that matters. I wouldn't care you weren't a manager.

If you work at wal greens long enough and decide you want to change roles, they might give you that option later. You don't have to decide everything you want to do before you even begin your role there and congrats on your new job!

Yes, I just took a job as a network administrator because I did not want to run a department anymore. It is not as much fun as it looks.
