He's wrong. I've had plenty of female friends that I didn't find physically attractive, or viewed platonically because there wasn't enough in common mentally to date/marry them.

Guys and girls cannot. Men and women can. If a person is emotionally and sexually immature or underdeveloped in some significant way, sure, intersex friendships may be challenging and will likely lead to problems. However, if one is of sound mind and is adequately developed, it would be silly to write off roughly half the population of the planet. If it's something you're capable of, you will encounter some of the deepest, genuine, and satisfying relationships you'll ever have.
