Why did he start the conversation being very rude, I unmatched but it’s knocked my confidence?

I messaged a match on bumble and my go to chat up line is “Did you fall from a vending machine? Cause you are a snack”. It’s not the best line but I usually get a response to it. Some find it funny, some find it cheesy but they are never rude about it. Yesterday I had a match reply saying “that’s f*cking horrendous”. He wasn’t joking either. And that’s all he said. I know he’s a d*ck for acting rude. But why start the conversation being nasty? It just sets a horrible and awkward tone, it made me feel like an idiot. Whah should I do? (I unmatched him and didn’t reply)

Ugh don't even sweat that loser sis! Some guys just wake up decided to be a total tool for no reason I guess. His rudeness ain't a reflection on you at all though.

Some possibilities I can think of - maybe he was just having a super crappy day and took it out on you which is SO not okay. Or more likely, dude is just insecure himself so he tries to put other people down to feel bigger. Truth is he's probably ugly inside AND out.

Who cares if your line wasn't the greatest? At least you shot your shot and were trying to start a friendly convo. That's way more than I can say for most dudes too scared to even message first. He probably never gets matches himself so he's bitter.

Seriously don't let one rude asshole dent your confidence! You seem fun and that line got laughs from others. Just unfortunate this dude woke up with a giant stick up his butt that day. Please don't stop putting yourself out there - you'll definitely find way nicer matches who appreciate your sense of humor too, this jerk ain't worth another thought!

I reported his profile and blocked him as rude behaviour like that isn’t tolerated on bumble which is the main thing I like about the app! But thank you!

For sure, I bet that reply totally caught you off guard! Not cool of him at all to come out the gates that hostile. Good call reporting and blocking - dude seems like a total prick that Bumble's prob better without.

And yeah, I like that about Bumble too how they try to curb assholes. Makes it way less stressful chatting when you don't gotta worry about random abuse flying at ya outta nowhere. Hopefully that guy gets the banhammer now too.

I am not being rude, I truly find it funny.

My friendly advice is, Just because you are on Bumble and you have to message first, doesn’t mean you should use the pick up lines that don’t even work on women. Be who you are, but don’t make a fool out of yourself, message gracefully.

I also had Bumble out of boredom, got 11200 likes in less than 24 hours. Everybody I swiped right - matched me. Got overwhelmed and didn’t message anyone.
