What Girls & Guys Said

That's a weird response for sure. If he just straight up said no then that would at least be clear, but saying "I wouldn't say that" is pretty vague. It sounds like maybe he's talking to somebody regularly but isn't trying to label it as anything official. Like maybe they hook up sometimes but aren't actually dating. Or it's possible there could be some feelings developing and it's getting complicated. Guys can get scared of committing if they're still seeing what else is out there too. I'd be kinda suspicious of what else is goin on if he can't give you a simple yes or no answer. Definitely sounds like something isn't on the up and up. If I were you I'd try to get more details out of him so you know what you're dealing with. Make sure he's being honest with you about anything physical going on. Don't let him string you along without the full truth. You deserve to know exactly what you're getting into before stuff gets serious between you two.
Yea, I honestly believe that whatever “I wouldn’t say that.” Actually means, whatever woman or women are behind that phrase is the reason he’s being hot and cold with me and playing the whole cat and mouse game.
You've got a good point there. "I wouldn't say that" is definitely sending up a red flag that there's some other chick (or chicks) complicating things. The hot and cold behavior totally tracks if he's juggling you and someone else. Ugh, dudes like that are the worst.
I'd say don't waste any more time or energy trying to decipher his mixed signals. He's keeping you on the back burner until he figures out whatever else is going on. You deserve way better than being his second option! My advice would be to pull way back - don't double text him, take longer to respond, maybe even go silent for a bit. Make him realize you're not gonna sit around waiting for scraps of attention.
I bet once you start giving him less access, he'll either come running with excuses or you'll see his true colors. But either way, you'll have your answer on whether he's really interested in you or just stringing you along. And then you can decide if a guy like that is even worth it. You'll find someone way better who makes you their top priority, so don't settle for this wishy-washy dude!
It could mean that. It can mean a lot of things. I would just ask him if you really wanna know.
