It could be that those people fall under the category of introvert people that have a hard time communicating with others and that often feel out of place when in a group. They tend to have a hard time integrating in a group and taking part in conversations.

I would say that a great part of those people do have some anxiety levels when interacting with others because they are shy or don't know how to talk to others, mostly those of the opposite gender.
