Why are guys so confusing and sort of misleading?

I liked this guy and he liked me as well. We communicated for a while a few months ago but stopped due to some miscommunication. He wanted to continue texting over messenger. I preferred texting. I messaged him my number and he still wouldn’t text me. He continued messaged me on messenger. So, I eventually just started reading the messages and not replying. He eventually realized I was reading them and not replying so he stopped sending them. We didn’t talk for months but we stayed friends on Facebook. I posted a picture of myself a few days ago. He messaged me telling me I was “fine”. And he told me he needed to “Grow his beard” referring to oral sex. That part, I didn’t take too seriously. He also said that he “missed” me and was mad that we stopped talking. We ended up talking about possibly hanging out and now, I haven’t heard anything from him in a day. We could have just continued not communicating if he was gonna do that.

I didn’t say he was confusing during the time I stopped communication for my own reasons. That clearly was me but I never told him to get back in contact with me. He did that on his own so that’s why I said he’s confusing this time around.
