Guys, what does it mean if a guy put his arm on my shoulder during a picture even when aren’t close?( arm around my back & hand gripping shoulder)?

I ( 21) was getting a pic with a guy (21) from one of my schools sports teams (D1, ranked). I like him & think he’s cute but he didn’t know I existed till this. After the game, fans who were kids got photos with him. Even tho it looked weird on my part considering I was the only one his age who asked for a photo with him; he got happy and smiled when saying yes. So bold on my part & im still shocked I did it. In the photo, he put his arm fully around me, his hand gripping my shoulder & we were so close. I thought he was barely going to put it on my back or touch me at all & expected an awk gap. But he smiled nicely, hand/arm on me and he leaned into me. Everyone who saw the photo said how happy he looked and thought we were dating. From his perspective what does this mean? I’m assuming nothing but at the same time I can’t see him being that close and personal with eveyone he meets. As I said up top, both 21, never met b4 the pic.

So, it depends how social a person her is. As example, when I had a photo taken with a star of a TV show I enjoyed, they where exactly as you describe with it because their used to being with people and very comfortable smiling and being close. In that context it didn't mean a lot, excepting that they didn't find me objectional in any way and where happy to have me as a fan of their work. It could simply be this.

However, that he was so flattered you asked means that he sees you as a pretty girl and likes the attention, which means likely he could potentially develop feelings for you if the stars where to align.

Being bold is good when it comes to this stuff, he will be feeling flattered and also lucky especially as the other people he posed with where kids (e. g. not really equals).

If you really want to know if he sees you as a potential date (or more) you will need to esculate, at least a little. Good luck.

Yeah I feel like he was happy a girl his age asked him for a photo bc it doesn’t happen often. My friends were again I probably boosted his confidence and made his day which makes me happy. Even if nothing happens I’m glad I could do that for him. I DM’d him after but it’s in his requested folder so I doubt he’s going to see it right away and by the time he does it’s prob going to be too late and look weird on his part. I didn’t say anything weird I just said something along the lines of thanks again for the photo and great game

Close in what way? Bc as I said we never met before that. That’s why I was confused if he was trying to say something. Not in a im in love w her way bc that’s beyond dramatic but just in a chill oh I’d be down to get to know her type way
