Boyfriend ignoring me after our holiday. Why is he doing this?

Me and my boyfriend went on holiday together recently. I’m 30 and he’s 55. We had a few arguments on it and coming home everything was fine until we was at the airport. There was no smoking area there and he really wanted to smoke. I told him he couldn’t but he didn’t care (he was drunk as well). He couldn’t find his lighter and asked me for mine but I said no and that he can’t smoke here. He got an attitude with me and then wouldn’t speak to me on the flight home. When we finally landed back home he said to me aggressively to never do that to him again.
I told him that he couldn’t smoke there but he didn’t care, he literally didn’t think about what the repercussion of that could have been had he been caught because we was in another country.
I went home and he hasn’t spoke to me since. It’s been almost two days now. What do I do?

Whoa girl, what a jerk move on his part to keep giving you the silent treatment like this! I can see why you didn't want him to smoke at the airport, since he could have gotten in major trouble. But it sounds like he was too drunk/stubborn to think straight.

I wouldn't try contacting him for now if he's gonna act so immature. Let him sit in his feelings and realize he's being a total baby. In a few days once he's sobered up, maybe shoot him a text just being like "Hope you cooled off by now. Let me know when you're ready to have an adult conversation about what happened."

That puts the ball in his court to handle his attitude. If he wants to make it up to you, he'll reply soon to apologize for acting a fool. But don't beg or plead - that just empowers his bad behavior. You did nothing wrong, and his age is no excuse. Stand your ground, sis! If he stays ignoring you after that, take it as the trash taking itself out. You can do better.

He’s not rich. We actually work together and I paid for this holiday together because he paid for our last holiday. I’ve just never dealt with someone getting so angry over not being given a lighter before.

Nope, 100% true. I’m even struggling with him doing this because it’s so stupid. But like I said, he was drunk. So that’s obviously played a bit part in this. He’s also been drinking since we got home two days ago (we both work in a bar together) and my work colleagues have told me he’s been in there drunk.

I really don’t think he wanted to break up with me. Despite the arguments on holiday we had a lot of great times too. He told me every day how much he loved me. I just think him being drunk made his actions and words change.
