Guys, I’m afraid I just killed his interest. Can I fix this or am I better off just moving on?

I met this guy on Facebook dating about a month ago, we hit it off and I was (still am) really liking him. I’m 40, he’s 42. Yesterday afternoon I texted him something and I meant it to be playful, but I don’t think he understood that I was kidding. He was at work and I asked him to text me when he got off. He said he would try but not to be mad if he forgets (I don’t get mad about that). So then I basically texted him “shame shame if you forget about me 😜” which I included that emoji and a few others so that he would know that I was kidding, then I told him “btw I’m only kidding in case you couldn’t tell”. I haven’t heard from him since. I’ve tried texting him last night before bed to ensure he knew it was just a joke and this morning and he has not answered me at all. And this is the same guy who’s been texting me “good morning beautiful” every day for the last month now all of a sudden as of yesterday, nothing (I sent the good morning texts also and I sent one about 3 hours ago. no response), he’s not answering my texts yet he’s posted on Facebook since then. Am I wrong for feeling hurt or am I overreacting?

Can I fix this or am I better off finding another guy? I swear I was only kidding!

So after posting this, I got a text from him basically saying “I need space. I’ll call/text you when I’m back on track”. Translation: I’m not sure I want to continue the relationship. Moving on it is.

Also it's not unreasonable to want a message after work. My wife does! I want a phone call after hers...

Being married is about communicating and he decided her wanted the other girl he has been texting good morning to every day with less strings.

Sorry sounds like your a great and beautiful date! He missed out and I wish you luck! Dating today is so hard.

It just takes one thing to quickly end it for both sides.

I can't imagine his behavior has anything to do with your joke. It was 100% harmless and he couldn't have taken offense at it. If he did, he's not someone you should date anyway.

Well I think he has/had little sense of humor and the flip side of the shame shame is you were saying he is/was important to you.

From your profile pic you have a beautiful face AND wear red lipstick so you shouldn't have much trouble moving on :)

Chances are it's nothing to do with that but etraneous variables from work or at home perosnal life etc

I would leave it be let him get back to you. You've done nothing wrong to kill of interest at all but the opposite

These things hurt and are uncontrollable, nothing to be worried about, just let him know that's cool. No need to even say looking forward to him getting back to you etc leave the ball in his court completely and you will feel better about the situation

It sounds to me like he simply isn’t as interested in you as you are in him. You didn’t kill anything.

Yeah probably. We went out three times and talked every day, then after posting this I get the “I need time to myself” text. It’s just mind blowing to me. I know when guys send that text promising to come back it usually means they’re not coming back so I’m counting on him not contacting me ever again, but it doesn’t make it hurt any less considering I never saw this coming.

It does hurt. Hopefully he will be back. There is always the possibility he is seeing someone else so be prudent.
