Did he lose interest, and if so how can I move on?

Guy went from smiling at me and staring every time he saw me to literally not making eye contact or trying to be near me. Every time I look he doesn’t really try to engage though now. He just glances but that’s it.
The other day I looked at him and smiled as he was initially heading in another direction and he stopped and saw me and then walked past me. I tried smiling at him but then looked away so not sure if he saw but sometimes I feel like he wants to say something but doesn’t.
I don’t think he’s be pissed necessarily at me since we never really have had a real convo before.
why would a guy avoid a girl like this? I’m not creepy or anything.

The first question is:

Why do you even smile at this person? Do you have any interest in him or is it only by courtesy that you are smiling?

If the second option applies, then simply don't smile and everything is fine. If, on the other hand, you have a crush on this guy and are interested in him, then why don't you just stop smiling and initiate a conversation and tell him that you are interested in him. Ask him whether your interest is reciprocated. If yes, then you have your reply and if not, well, you have it as well.

He may have realized that you are unapproachable for a reason or another and then does not bother to continue to look at you.

Why don't you take the initiative to clear up this topic?

I mean, it’s possible he lost interest because you weren’t taking initiate to approach him and talk to him instead of just glances and smiles. Maybe try and talk to him to maybe spark that interest again.

Yeah I mean I smiled at him and stared from a distance and then he saw me and stopped where he was going and walked past me. Maybe he was gonna say something but I looked away.
Then he sat in a chair near me later after that in the lounge but positioned himself like away from me and was talking on the phone, then walked away not even looking at me.
