Why would a much older guy spend extra time with me if he doesn’t need to?

And also if he doesn’t want me sexually. I’d he lonely (despite having loads of good friends) or is there some other reason that a 47 year old man would want to spend time talking to me? What does he want guys? My company? He doesn’t push for sex or mention sexual stuff.

He’s lonely

I do make him laugh…. But he also calls me “mate” a lot. And seems to like the fact that I care about him and comfort him when he needs it. I’m over “liking” him because I’ve decided it’s a terrible idea to pursue that anyway. I’m just curious what goes through guys heads?
