How do you support the father of a newborn when the mother has died?

I read this and though wow... this guy has a child and a baby. Wife just died in an accident. If you had a friend like this guy, how would you support him?

Note I do not know this man, it's a general question.

I read this and think... is alcohol involved. That wasn't stated but. Either way, always think Safety first! Golf carts are quite dangerous... no seatbelt, no shocks and high speed.

This question goes into the category of helping men recognize that other men do need support... emotional and other.

I will be responding in hypothetical.

I would choose to go by the details provided by my close acquaintance, I would comfort him & tell him that I’m here for him. If he is feeling low, he would hold him high just as I’d do for anyone going through this serious loss. Not only do you lose someone you loved, you have to pick up the pieces for your child & that child will remind you so much of her…. It hurts, it can take quite the mental and emotional toll so knowing that gets me wanting to support & uplift this man in need. I’d talk him through it, give him reassurance, provide support when appropriate and more so just to keep his spirits high to get through this tragedy.

if he is my friend, we would help him get parental leave from his company, and support him daily in all chores... as he would suffer from grieving his loss...

anyone can take care of the newborn, as long as will be careful and will have positive emotions to the child... so we could take turns...

he would need someone to talk to... about his contradicting feelings... of loss and joy... and the guilty feeling that he can't give his child what they need, because he has to deal with his emotions...

psychological help also should be organized...

I did it before... he wasn't my friend, but friend of a friend... we organized everything... the girl is now 8 years old and her father is a happy man... so I think we succeeded... :D

Good in theory but I can't see wanting another man to take care of my newborn. Helping with chores and maybe bringing prepared meals will certainly be appreciated.

@KrakenAttackin if you are grieving because you lost your partner... such details don't matter... you want your child to be taken care of, even if currently you are not able to do it... and in our circle are men who have their own kids, so they are experienced and helpful...

Regardless if alcohol was involved or not the fact is a young mother died with a very young baby and a husband left behind. Now me being a female if it was a friend of mine I would support him by making sure he ate bringing food to him helping him with that baby taking care and babysitting that baby so he can go have some alone time and and have time to mourn. That is a terrible tragic incident for anybody to have to deal with

I mention the alcohol as an example. I've seen this sort of thing happen on prescribed meds too. Or maybe it's just a stability thing. who knows. gotta be careful out there with head injuries.

I would try to support him through the grieving process and try to help out whenever I can and help him find some helpful resources.

women need support as well. most women I know have women whom wil come to them to help. guys, babysitting and providing emotional support... not as much.

Oh that's sad.

I'd gather all the baby needs for a long period of time. Like diapers, food, clothes, toiletries. I'd look for a nanny as well.
