I don't do online dating but I have met guys in person via a seedy chatroom website. This was a very long time ago and thinking on it, a dangerous game to play. Thankfully no funny business took place. I really liked one guy, we met several times, lost touch and now back in touch. All was going well until I discovered that he lied about his name, or misled me to not sound so dramatic. I appreciate that meeting on a seedy website, you'd want to protect your identity online hence the made up user names. But in person would you come clean? Especially if you met several times not just once? Whatever the reasons, I'm more cut up that a decade later he is still pulling the wool over my eyes. I wouldn't care if I didn't like him. Anyway, do I bother to tell him I know he's lied or just let it go and let him go?

The term "chatroom" just raised a big red flag.

You say that you don't do online dating but those chatrooms are basically just that. Pickup sites under the disguise of innocent chatrooms where people go in the hope to get into someone else's pants. It does not matter what those chatrooms are all about and you just gave me the confirmation that this one you mention is not much different than any other chatroom.

Of course that those people that have specific intentions will use a fake name. That is nothing new about this procedure.

Using a fake identity after meeting online only convinces me that this man had indeed plans to get you where he wanted and once he got what he came to seek, you would join the bandwagon of victims of people like him.

Don't bother to say anything and just let him wonder why.
