Why did he lie to me about his name?

I understand using a different name for privacy… but I asked him if that was his real name and he said yes.

On the date I felt I had to push him to tell me his real name… and he finally told me but it seemed like he didn’t want to….

What’s up with that?

I didn’t feel unsafe and afterwards I did check his name. He doesn’t have a criminal record

He's probably attempted to keep his name a secret because he doesn't know you well enough and he isn't able to look up whether or not you have a criminal record because you're a woman and women don't have criminal records but they're sure as shit still just as dangerous as men just in different ways

I’ll use a fake name on social media only because my opinions sometimes goes against the main stream thinking, but I would never use a fake name on a date. That to me is a red flag. Maybe no criminal record but maybe married or has a girlfriend.

I can't say that anyone can give a definite answer but the thought that came to my mind, initially, was that he might have been worried that people would stalk him? Or that his family would follow his activity? Or perhaps he just really doesn't like his actual name.
