If you're asking why men won't either convert that commitment further into marriage, or other type of relationship, then it's possible (if he's looking for marriage while only being in friends with benefits with you). If he's not looking for marriage, then you could be the "person for now" rather than the right person. You don't owe each other anything or actions you both didn't mutually agree was a benefit (sex, monies, etc.).
