I didn't start meeting black girls until college back in 1976. (I attended a private boy's high school that was about 15 percent black, but all boys). I gradually started falling in love with black women and finally in grad school had black girlfriend. She was (and I assume still is) a wonderful woman. I asked to her marry me. I didn't end up marrying her or a black woman, but I still find them highly attractive.

I blame the media. You always see fair skin and straight hair women on billboards, magazine covers who are relentlessly highlighted in beauty pageants. We live in a society that cannot think for themselves so they are influenced by the media's repetitive and persistent "customs and norms". If you fail to conform with their ideology and perspective then you are irrational and unconventional.

Well first of all, race and sexual orientation aren't comparable, but since you seem to think it is I'll tell you why it isn't.
First of all, in most cases sexual orientation is something that everyone is born with. People are born with a racial preference because race is only a social construct. We don't come out of the womb with a racial preference.
A child may automatically be attracted to light skin if that's what's most familiar to him, but as I've said before there are people of all races with light skin. Racial preferences are caused by societal pressures and exposure. It could be biological to a certain extent for the most part it isn't.

As an Asian woman, I think you're right about Asian women being a spectrum of attractive to ugly. My observation is that the vast majority of Asians, at least East Asians, are honestly plain looking.
