I know its usually a way for them to show deference/respect to the woman but does the meaning change if you're lying in bed together? I've known this guy for awhile, we used to work together and this was the first night he admitted to having his eye on me for a long time. I went back to his apartment to eat dinner and we started making out passionately, but I told him I'm not ready to sleep with you yet. He completely respected that, gave me the choice to sleep alone or with him and said Id prefer if you'd sleep in the bed with me, I just want you near. He completely respected me did NOT try ANYTHING while in bed just reached out his hand and we held hands for awhile. He fell asleep and an hour or so later he kisses the back of my hand very softly gently and we continue to hold hands and he goes back to sleep.
