So I have spent a lot of time over the two years or so training and I realise now more than I used to that my knowledge has grown a huge amount over this time and I thought back to when I first started and I didn't know all that much so I figure I would pass in a bit of my knowledge that I have picked up on my way.
So in my own opinion what is the most important part about starting your way to that healthier body and mind you dream of? Well the way I see it the first thing you got to do is 1, Get a goal 2, Get a plan and 3, Just do it. Simple right? Not really, the way I see it? Most people never hit their goals, give up and go back to who they were is simply because their goal was too far out of reach from where they began. But your reach should always exceed your grasp right? Well yeah, sure that's the way to think but if you set your goal so far away from where you are at now you will take so long to even start to gain ground on it you will ultimately quit. Make a goal that you can achieve, once you achieve it go further and further until you reach it, don't start with a massive goal build up to it.

So the first step is to make the goal, the second is to act on it, maybe don't just go straight into lifting heavy or running for miles, work to it, planning can make a huge difference and can help you to achieve the goal that you want and to stay on track.
If you take a photo of how you look at the beginning and then every month or so take another picture and track yourself like that it can give you huge motivation to stick to it.

Keep working everyday, don't stop. The only person that holds you back is yourself. I made the mistake in the beginning of listening to friends, well "friends" who teased about how much time I spent at the gym ad how much stuff I sacrificed to get even the smallest changes. But you know what...

Don't listen to them; just remember while they sit on their ass doing nothing you are getting better, faster and stronger. You are winning while they continually stay the same old person with no meaning to their way of living nothing to work for or to make them better.
So the take is called training and motivation so I better talk about the training too right? Sorry haha I got carried away with the motivation part oops.
The number 1 thing that everyone needs to learn with anything they do really it leave you damn EGO at the door

Don't push yourself to places that your ability cannot keep you just as with everything you cannot run before you can walk you cannot jump before you can stand and you cannot lift twice your body weight without first learning how to lift properly.
find a programme that suits your goals, there are hundreds of them online that you can use or even use to make your own, just find one that you will stick to and you like. Don't feel that you have to do a certain programme cause that guy at the gym is or your friend is or whatever pick one that you like and one that you will stick to and enjoy because of you enjoy it you will stick to it and ultimately achieve your goals easier. I got to be honest with regards to training there isn't a lot to tell really it is all about finding the way you like to train and there are many possibilities to choice from:
High volume, low weight
Low volume, high weight
Cardio accelerated based resistance training
And again on top of that you could just microcycle that and do them all.
I didn't plan on posting further than that really but thinking over it new people to the gym could sometimes do with some other advise to do with, well how they act at the gym.
1. It would be good if you had a plan before you went to the gym so you don't look like a idiot just wandering.
2. Put the damn weights back where you got them, nobody wants to clean up after you.

3. Wipe the equipment after you use it, nobody wants to use the sweat covered kit so let's wipe it down after.

4. Almost anyone at the gym will agree with this one DONT CURL IN THE SQUAT RACK.

Other than these there really are a few simple things, like don't sit at the machine on the phone, people are waiting for it don't hog it, let people jump in between sets with you, if you have lots of sets left don't rush them just let the other people use it while you rest.
