Anger is a powerful emotion. If it isn’t handled properly, it may have destructive results. Uncontrolled anger can lead to arguments, physical fights, physical abuse, assault and self-harm. On the other hand, well-managed anger can be a useful emotion that motivates you to make positive changes.



Continuous anger takes away our ability to forgive. Anger is linked with heart diseases which results in premature death. During anger, stress hormones are released; the heart rate and blood pressure increases, and blood is circulated to the muscles in preparation for physical action. Anger is associated with aging. The negative results of anger are similar to what happens during fear. Anger triggers the body’s ‘fight or flight’ response. Other emotions that trigger this response include fear, excitement and anxiety. The adrenal glands flood the body with stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. The brain shunts blood away from the gut and towards the muscles, in preparation for physical exertion. Heart rate, blood pressure and respiration increase, the body temperature rises and the skin perspires. The mind is sharpened and focused.



Each time you get angry have it in the back of your mind that, “it is easy to destroy than to build”. Things lost during the period of Anger may never return or may take time to replace. Anger can destroy Relationships, Businesses in a split second.


Health problems associated with Anger are: Headache Digestion problems, such as abdominal pain Insomnia Increased anxiety Depression High blood pressure


Heart attack Stroke.

Discipline and self control are the necessary tools for the management of anger. These are techniques used in controlling anger, some of the techniques includes; Practicing forgiveness, humility, and respect. Proper understanding of the state of affairs is also important in anger management; for example understanding the reason for your anger. Other methods of controlling anger are;
