emergency with my belly button ring!!?

I take pretty good care of my belly button ring but today which appeared a few hours ago was like a redish/whitish bump on the top part of my piercing not the bottom part. The bump has no puss or anything coming out of it which is good! But what should i do? I cleaned if with my piercing cleaner! Do you think it's infected! Im gonna see my doctor too! Please help! I always clean so im not sure what happened! I also took out my piercing for the night and for tomorrow so it'll have less irritation

my piercing got stuck to my shirt 2 days ago too.. so it got pulled a little.. and i was doing superman pose for working out the other day so my piercing (a long dangling one) was all around my skin and pressed roughly between my shirt and the ground

WHATEVER YOU DO PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE JEWELLERY. I've worked at a piercing place for two years and thats the mistake most people make. If you remove the jewellery and it gets infected the infection will be trapped inside the healing hole and potentially create an infection called an abscess which is not what you want. If you think it's infected go to your piercer not the doctor as they will tell you to take the jewellery out. Your piercing is more than likely just irritated in which case you should do sea salt soaks two-three times a day for about two minutes each time. Soak a cotton ball or gauze in warm/hot water and sea salt and leave it on the area. Stick to the sea salt and avoid soaps, peroxide or other cleaners like tea tree as these will dry out the skin and it could be prone to more irritation. You could also fill a shot glass with the solution and cup it over your entire belly button. Please don't start to worry, you can worry when the area is radiating heat, had pus or is freely bleeding. Until then, assume it's irritated.

Sound like its getting infected, if its red/pink and warmer than normal to the touch it probably is. Belly button rings get infected easily cuz its a dirty place and there is a lot of fat there and not as much blood flow. You want to get it taken care of asap, they can become very nasty. Especially if the are not taken care of asap. They can be more difficult to heal than other places on the body.

It still could mean its infected. I would watch it very closely. If it looks any worse or feels hot to the touch (like a fever) go to an urgent care. If you get a fever or start feeling nauseated, go to the ER.

I just looked at the pics. It looks like to me its either just irritated or the beginning of an infection. I would watch it close for more redness, feverish, pain, puss, etc. Keep it clean with soap and warm water. Just use common sense and don't hesitate to go to a doctor if you think you should. Always err on the side of being safe.

Happened to my sister she had to take it out and let it heal then she got it repierced, she used bio oil to help with the scaring

I always use warm salt water if my piercings get infected. Works better than piercing cleaner.
Dont use peroxide

This is what I was going to suggest.

Get a bowl of warm water. About shower temperature maybe a bit warmer. Pour some ordinary table salt in. The amount isn't really critical. But more is better than less. Stir it a bit to dissolve the salt.

Get a clean face cloth or paper towel put it in the water. Wring out excess water and put it on the area and hold it there. If it starts to sting, It's infected. Keep holding the cloth there. Re-wet it occasionally. Do this until the stinging stops. The salt water helps pull the infection out. Do this at least 3 times a day. After a couple days you should see a big improvement in the area. If you don't. Get to your doctor.

I also recommend putting some gauze over it and taping it on either side. This will help keep it clean obviously. But it will also keep shirts from rubbing and irritating it.

The bump should go away also, when I got mine done 5 years ago I decided it would be a good idea to go in jacuzzi right after and it got super infected, bump and everything. Its fine now (:

use some tea tree oil on the bump. keep cleaning it and use the oil a few times a day. do not pick at it, allow it to fall away naturally. it should be gone within a few days, depending on the size!

Really? I put the cleaning solution on that i was given for my piercing! There's definitely nothing coming out of it! It's just white now

sounds like a lump of scar tissue, how long have you had the piercing?

10 months exactly! its just inflamed.. not hot, doesn't hurt, no oozing of anything green or yellow.
should i take a picture and post it for you guys to see?

I think a picture may help. You may have just irritated it, easily done if it's been rubbing in your sleep against the sheets or clothes. When my belly button piercing got infected it was horrible, yellow, red and oozy! Hope yours is just annoyed!

salt water, to make sure it is keeping clean, and just leave it alone for a few days. I mean really alone - don't touch the poor thing - use a cotton bud to apply the water gently and see if it improves. I don't think you have much to worry about though.

Ooh... It looks sore! I'd go to the place where you had it done and ask them, but in the mean time plenty of salt water, I sometimes get this with my ear piercing and there is a hard white ball inside the flesh tunnel. I squeeze it out and then the hole stops being so inflamed, it definitely looks unhappy!

for me i got my nose pierced for like more than two years... but one day it got stuck with a thread of the bedsheet... then have removed it since 1 year ago... i miss my nose piercing:(
