I don't think there is really a correct answer to this.
Sport that requires the most skill:
-Baseball- It's a well known fact that hitting off of a major league pitcher is insanely fucking difficult
Most physically demanding:
-Football
-Rugby
-Any type of combat sport
Sport that requires the most mental toughness:
- Baseball- Staying motivated and hungry throughout a 162 game season is no easy task
- Any endurance based sport (cross country, rowing, etc)
- Any type of combat sport11 Reply
Asker+1 yI agree with you baseball does need skill but the mentally part I don't know I don't see it as challenging as running because you have to push yourself beyond the point of pain

+1 yOut of that list I'd say soccer.
Bro you're tired as fuck the whole damn time.
Football you get plenty of time on the sidelines.
Basketball they take you out.
Track if you do one event it doesn't last long.48 Reply
Asker+1 yWell I'm not being bias soccer is really challenging. But cross country and track to me is more mentally harder than any other sport because you're not competing as a team as much you're there running yourself which in my experience.. From running 10ks and 8ks in cross country trying to average sub 5min each mile is a killer
- +1 y
Oh that's very true. I agree. I did track in HS and mentally you HAVE to be prepared. I know what you mean. Plus you can't slack. You have to be full focus mentally while doing the event. You're right it's all you. I mean I still think soccer is more tiring in the long run and thus tougher. Not to mention how hard it is to score. They spend hours just to score one goal. But I understand what you're saying about track. I never did cross country.
Asker+1 yYeah soccer goes hand and hand with stamina and strength like cross country and track. I feel there even due you get subbed in and out of soccer while track you have to stay active in between your events and with training you can't miss a single day. I have to average 85 miles a week missing couple of days will set you back three weeks of training which honestly sucks
- +1 y
Oh wow bro. We didn't train no where near like that in HS. Then again we weren't that great to begin with hahahaha.
Asker+1 yLol the transition from high school cross country/track to D1 college is a huge step the most challenging part is the mileage. Going from 45-55 miles a week to 85 miles is a lot harder. And the pace increases and the reps and workouts get intensified
- +1 y
Whoa bro. You must be really athletic, because I know I wouldn't make it. Keep up the good work bro. I hope you're successful :).
- +1 y
Thanks for MH bro :) Good luck with track/cross country.
Asker+1 yNo problem. And thanks pre-Nats at Indianan is this Saturday
Personally golf. Do you know how much stuff u have to consider?
The slope, the wind, the amount to chip off, where to hit it, how much power, the grip and the list goes on and on!
It's definitely something mentally challenging32 Reply
Dog sledding, getting those pups in line is tough work :) LOLLL JK id say soccer because you require teamwork to score so if one person is off then you are screwed.

@rthomas43 I would say mentally, I should've been more specific. hahaa. to go at a consist speed of 190 mph requires balls of steel! :D
+1 yDefinitely football. You have to run as fast as you can, have a good hand-feet-eye coordination in order to catch the ball. To this, you have to add the fact that you're gonna get hit pretty hard.
You have to be really prepared physically and mentally to stand all that.
I played soccer for 13 years and it's not as hard as people think. I was a Forward/midfielder playing on the side (I struggle with the position names in English), so I was one of the players that ran the most in each game, but it wasn't as exhausting as people think. Soccer is a very slow paced game, so you don't get tired to quickly. I could easily play all the 90 minutes without asking for a substitution.00 Reply

Asker+1 yThat's intense lol but I won't see it challenging you physically and mentally more of tactical and strategy
+1 ySoccer. Having played at a high level, the expectations both physically and mentally and the ability to make decision quick are imperative. That being said, the other mentioned sport do have their own set of challenges some in common with soccer others unique to the field.
00 ReplyI hav been playing Soccer for 10 years and I don't think I'm any closer the last reserve player in Real Madrid. Its an innovative game. People keep on inventing new moves while I'm still focused on my step over. Gaining 75% ball control itself requires years of training. You hav to be fast and agile at the same time. And ya, One you are substituted, no coming back.

+1 yCross Country. You have to train everyday for a year, and be in great shape. Every other sport you can be fat and still get a good spot, such as goalies, catchers, or offensive line. Cross country is one of the most under appreciated sports out there. I've talked to guys who ran and did wrestling, they all said wrestling was a close number two, but the mental strength to run ten miles is much harder.

+1 yI would say cross country depending on how far you would have to run. But out of all sports gymnastics.
22 Reply- +1 y
Oops I forgot to say why. Gymnastics you have to have a ton of muscle to be able to throw yourself high in the air. Stamina because even though routines aren't even 5 mins half the time u use ur whole body. Plus mentally that stuff gets scary. U don't think about how hard it is while watching it. But being right there when ur coach is telling u to do something like back handspring on the beam ( beam is 4 inches wide ) and is at least 3/4 ft in the air. And u have to think about everything ur doing knowing that if ur toe isn't pointed for a sec u could lose the whole thing. Don't forget all the rules there are. Point ur toes, legs straight, ect... Ps I'm a gymnast so I'm not making this up
- +1 y
Gymnastics is serious. Some of those sports a great athlete could pick up and contribute within a few years but gymnastics if you didn't build the body control young it's probably not happening.
+1 yYou forgot wrestling. Combat sports like these were it's a 1 vs 1 is very challenging. Workouts vary per school and team but in my school it's by far the hardest. Not even including all the weight management most people go through.

+1 ySoccer because I have to spend so much energy trying not to 'hurt' all the aggressive spastics that cry if you touch them slightly. They still get free kicks for diving, I still get pissed off and tired.
00 ReplyLacrosse should be on that list, catching a ball in a 3 inch by 1 inch area is difficult add constant running and people hitting you with their sticks as well as body checking you all of a sudden have the hardest sport.

+1 yOut of those, maybe soccer. Your stamina has to be up for quite a long time since there generally is no break until someone scores. In soccer, the players take forever to score.
But overall, I would say martial arts.10 Reply I would say "Ninja" obstacle courses on TV look very hard. Other than that I would say soccer.
Asker+1 yBut that's not a sport that's an obstacle course lol
For me, hockey is the hardest, cause its close to ice. Makes my job as a benchwarmer really difficult..
00 Reply8.3K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. You never brought up Boxing in your poll. But besides Boxing football because you have guys trying to knock you down hard and if your not tough and skilled as in real good your going to get taken out of the game and hurt you will be

you're running like non stop hahha , well if you're that motivated to run that long, than it is challenging hahaha :")00 Reply
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yI would say crew/rowing
Physically its a whole body workout every practice...
Your endurance has to be amazing
Mentally - You have to push yourself and keep going faster. Your teammates give it their all and you have to do. When you get really tired your concentration has to be spot on too.00 Reply
+1 yits definitely golf. I have been a golfer for years, and its still harder than school.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yFootball in my opinion just requires muscle and no brains at all. Just brute force. Track is better but as there. is no competition it also does not need real thought. I can't choose between soccer and basketball
