Damn, that sounds like a hell of an ordeal, bro. Anything with your back is rough. Hope you're fully mended up at this point!
I've never had one. The closest I came, was with my ribs. I have a dent in my ribcage from a football injury. My two lower ribs broke at the cartilage and off of my sternum. It was misdiagnosed and they just gave my painkillers and sent me on my way. Weeks later when the swelling subsided I noticed the dent. Went back again, and they told me I was fine, and that "some people have imperfections in their bodies and don't notice until they get injured in the area." Well, I broke my hand later that year and was going to an orthopedic surgeon, and I brought up my ribs. He looked and noticed the dent too, and referred me to the chief of surgery at our local hospital. That guy looked at me, confirmed that everything I had suspected was true, but said at this point it had just healed that way. He said my organs probably shifted to accommodate the deformity, but he thought it was deep enough to require surgery, so I was off the hook. It still hurts sometimes if I inhale deeply with my arms over my head, like if I yawn and stretch, and something is definitely being poked, I'll get a sharp pain, and I get some pain in the area occasionally just at rest. But at least I have a sweet dent in my ribs, haha.

I've had a giant-cell tumor in my index finger. It was a major bone-deep surgery. Got 10 stitches in one finger. I also had penis surgery; it was done with a local anesthetic so I wasn't put down all the way. I was just numbed up. Knowing what was going on down there made me come to the conclusion that anesthetics are the best invention ever.
I have had heart surgery and eye surgery. The heart surgery was because I had a double aortic arch that was pushing on my trachea, cutting off air. I had this surgery when I was a month old. The eye surgery was from when I had double vision and then my brain shut off the sight in my left eye. After the surgery though I could see out of it. I had this surgery when I was 9 years old.
I've had oral surgery. It was to remove excess gum and I had to have stitches put in for a month. It sucked :/
