They simply are not tolerant, blinded by their own opinions, or influenced by silly facts on the internet. I eat meat, but know a lot about vegetarian&vegan lifestyle and respect them (EXCEPT if they get in my face and try to prove me something without listening to my opinion.)
You will invariably hear about it. If they don't go rubbing it in your face openly, they'll make sure you find out by saying 'oooh, I need to see what vegan options they have'.
If they don't want to eat meat, that's fine, but I really don't care.
Because they care. That's why so many people hate social activists because they're so bold with their opinions at times. People don't like others who don't conform. As for me, I don't have a problem with vegans.
Because most vegans try to force their beliefs on others. Calling someone "cruel" or "heartless" for eating meat is uncalled for. I'm a vegan myself, but I don't look down on people that eat meat. Everyone can eat what they want.
Have you seen some of those videos online where, people are being annoying and keep screaming "It's not food, it's violence!". Thats probably why lol. I learn towards not eating much meat myself so I can understand if that's someones personal choice. But it's kinda like with everything, don't shove your opinion down other peoples throats and your good!
If vegans would stop breaking our fucking balls with their principles maybe we could have more posit opinions about them. People who tell me its a crime to drink milk in the 21st century can't be taken seriously by me.

Because so many of them are judgmental, self-righteous twats who look down their noses at anyone who would dare eat the flesh of another creature.

But there are so many people that are like that that aren't vegans/vegitarians. Religion and politics are perfect examples.
Experience with Vegans but there is overgeneralizing The reason these vegans bragged being vegans because vegans are not that common. People like being special.

I just don't understand how anyone can willingly choose to reject bacon.
There is veggie bacon =D Quite good actually. Not as good as real bacon, but you know ;)

But they are disliked for the same reasons as vegans/vegetarians.
Yeah, but you dont dislike all religious people based on a few, do you?
My experience with religious people has been less negative than my experience with vegans/vegitarians.
I have no problems with anyone personal life styles. Most vegans I know bring it on themselves by constantly shoving it in your face.

People like being special.
Because a lot of them have an elitist moral superior type attitude to their veganism.
because people are mean
