it could be considered depression, other symptoms are extreme sadness that presist for long periods of time, which do not improve or prevent a person from functioning normally can be called depression. Depression drains a person of energy and their ability to enjoy life. It can make the person feel worthless or unable to achieve anything. Some other symptoms are change in sleep patterns, restleness, lack of energy, loss of concentration, loss of confidence, appetite or weight change and thoughts of death. If you are exprencieing any of these there are several self-help techniques for mild depression. Keeping active, having a healthing diet, exercising regularly, and relaxing when you feel stressed. It sounds like depression which can lead to being suicidal especially if the thought is there. Have you considered seeking a therapist? Sounds silly, but hopefully you can find a silver lining and start caring about life again.
It's both, & if you're having those thoughts, from experience, it's better to talk to someone you trust sooner rather than later.
