Can toning your body make you lose weight?

Ok, so I wanna lose weight, but I wanna have a toned body too. So far I feel I am only toning my body because my legs feel more muscular and hard instead of soft and flabby, my abs are starting to show on the very top like I have that line the goes from the top of the belly to below the belly button but mine is only at the top and not quite to my belly yet. Also I used to be 186 now I am 192 -_- is that because I put muscle on or no. Also, when I walk after a little while my ankle starts to hurt really bad, it cramps. Its only the right ankle, everything else is fine nothing else hurts. Could it be a lack of Potasium? Thanks!
Yes it helps you lose weight because you are working your body.
No. You gain more weight because you put on muscle

Update: I went to weigh myself and I am heavier than I was I think I am now 195 194 maybe. Then again I check my weight over in those solo stations at walmart. My clothing seems loser so I think (if I AM gaining weight) its all in muscle. because I have a pair of pants that just fit me, then they got to the point where they were so tight they (almost) didn't fit. Now they are starting to fall off. So I think I am heading in the right direction!
