There is no guarantee that he will 'like' you, but it is more likely.
If he does not, I can assure you that male interest will increase significantly.
Not many males are attracted to girls who are overweight.
There is also your health to consider. Obesity can lead to: type-2 diabetes (you are not too young for that); heart disease; kidney failure; arthritis (especially of the knees and hips); depression caused by poor self esteem.

When I started working out, it was for two reasons.
1: to be able to fight (I got beat up a lot as a kid)
2: to look attractive to girls.
That "don't change yourself for anyone else" speech is an excuse people use to legitimize not to better themselves. Do what you need to do in order to do want you want to do.

Look you don't have to modify your body for someone to like you. If he can't accept the way you are now then it isn't meant to be. Get some inspiration from the actress Melissa McCarthy and Ann Wilson of the rock band Heart. Both beautiful women that had love come to them
It's never worth changing yourself for anyone other than yourself.
Having said that, it's worth losing that extra weight because it'll make you healthier and give you more confidence.of course... have you see those fat shows where the fat women go in as so fat and ugly and by the end they are slim and look good.
Block me please. He will be more attracted to you because you are healthier, so it's a win-win.
