+1 yI am veggie, have been for as long as I can remember. Whole family is. I do my share of cooking at home, and most of it is actually vegan. The only non-vegan ingredients I can think of are real free range eggs from local farmer, skimmed milk, occasionally semi-skimmed milk, and cheese, all from local sources. We bake all our own bread, cakes, biscuits, pastries and pies. ( Made 3 loaves yesterday, 2 sun-dried tomato and 1 green pesto. Even the pesto is vegan and home made ). We stick to organic wines, which are usually vegan with no animal based finings.
I am fully supportive of veganism, but by my own admission, I am probably too lazy to find vegan alternatives to milk, eggs and cheeese that actually taste the same.11 Reply- +1 y

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI think it doesn't make much sense. If you are doing it for health there is no reason to be strict about it, many animal products are more nutritious. If you are doing it because of animal cruelty (something else which makes no sense to me but I can see it, sort of) then you should have no objection to animal products such as eggs which can be harvested humanely. Also everyone, vegans included, eats and kills animals all the time, they just kill and eat very small animals and it doesn't make much sense to me to think an animal's life is more valuable the bigger it is.
But, whatever makes you happy I suppose.03 Reply- +1 y
I'm interested in learning what very small animals vegans eat. Are you talking about bacteria? I think the main objection to eggs is the way the chickens are factory farmed. Similar with milk, buttter and cheese with the way cows are farmed.

"then you should have no objection to animal products such as eggs which can be harvested humanely."
And how is that done commercially? Not killing the male chickens? Keeping the hens alive for years even when they're not productive? Being free range may improve their quality of life but that doesn't mean it's conducted entirely humanely.
Opinion Owner+1 yAs to the animals they eat and kill I'm thinking things like dust mites. These are basically very tiny crabs. If you wouldn't eat a crab I don't see how you can be comfortable eating dust mites.
So would a vegan eat an egg if it was from a farm where they didn't kill any chickens? Or would they object to eggs on principle. The impression i get is most if not all don't care how the egg got here, they wouldn't eat it.
I keep chickens by the way, in my back yard, never killed or contained any of them beyond what is required for their protection form natural perpetrators who, given half a chance, would kill them in ways more brutal and horrifying than anything a human would do.
I'm a vegan and the people I know don't mind cooking for me. Even when I go to restaurants the waitresses make sure all my food is vegan. I asked for a sweet potato and this waitress literally called up the corporation to see if it was vegan. It turned out that they cook their sweet potatoes in bacon grease. She got the cooks to steam me some vegetables with no butter though.

+1 yI eat meat. I have a few vegan and vegetarian friends and I think they're all fine. I respect their choices and they don't necessarily respect mine (eating/using animal products isn't something they can respect and I accept that) but we don't fight about it.

+1 yI'm not, and never will be. Could not live on "rabbit food", and need my bacon ^^
Seriously though; no i'd not make a "spcial meal" just for them. They're free to eat everything but the meat. I'm not supporting them, i'm sinply indifferent, at least as long as they don't feel the need to shove their beleifs down everyone's throat or act "holier than thou" for being vegan.
sure, it's a potentially healthy lifestyle, but you don't need to skip all meat to have a healthy lifestyle, you just need to be smart about what you eat.00 ReplyI am a vegetarian. I respect and support vegans. :)
Veganism is healthy if you know what to eat. For example white toast with margerine and jam is vegan but not healthy if that's all you eat.
But I can't stand it when vegans try to force their lifestlye on others or think they are superior. Veganism is not suitable for everyone though since fruits and vegetables are quite expensive.. especially in winter.10 ReplyPeople can decide for themselves what diet they would like to hold to. I have no problem with vegans or vegetarians, and actually admire their conviction. I do find people annoying who feel the need to push it in others' faces, though, or who try to make others feel bad who do enjoy eating meat.
If I have someone coming over for dinner who is a vegetarian or vegan, I will do my best to make something that they will be able to eat.20 Reply
+1 yI think Veganism is healthy, if done properly
There could be nutritional deficiencies if your diet isn't on point
I think i will become vegan once i am older, like 50
I am indifferent towards vegans
i would cook for a vegan! some miso soup! :)10 Reply
+1 yI guess I "support" veganism (I really don't care how other people eat), but anyway, I voted "D" regardless.
It's their body, their choice. If someone wants to strictly eat food that doesn't come from animals, more power to them.
From my experience, vegans (and vegetarians in general) seem to have more of an issue with meat-eaters than the other way around.00 Reply
+1 yI do not support veganism because it is unhealthy and, in many cases, the reasoning behind it often involves a distorted view of humans and animals.
I wouldn't be opposed to being friends with a vegan, we just wouldn't eat together lol, but I would never be romantically with one.00 Reply
+1 yI eat meat, but I don't mind vegans. My dad is one. The only problem I have is with those self righteous, judgmental vegans that hate everyone that isn't like them. I'll never not be friends with someone because of what they eat or don't eat, but I've had "friends" get mad because I ordered meat around them.
00 ReplyVegans eat plants.
Plants give us oxygen to breath.
If vegans eat all of the plants, there'll be no air for us to breath?
WE'RE All GONNA DIE!
Just Kidding!
I eat meat but when I'm out I have to make sure everything is suitable for vegetarians by reading the labels, which is a pain!01 Reply
+1 yits funny, many vegans are correct when it comes to animal cruelty. And its nice they avert meat, but most usually forget about the slave labor that is used to farm their vegetables and fruits. ^^ and I find that to be a wonderful contradiction

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yWell I don't know if I could be vegan because even our vegetables have meat in them I'm from the south so we put pork almost in everything and I have never understand why fruits cost more than the meat we eat anyway no judgement on the people we eat like that I have a daughter who is basically a vegetarian but that just because she is picky and I would cook for one if I new how to also what is tofu a food what is it really

+1 yI don't care, it's their choice. I only dislike those who don't shut up about how eating meat is murder and judging all meat eaters as bad people for doing so.
I wouldn't mind cooking for a vegan, as long as they also cook meat for me.10 ReplyI am a vegetarian, not a vegan. The only thing I need to do, is have a piece of red meat every 1 to 2 weeks to maintain my iron level. My body does not accept vegetable iron, not even with supplements.

+1 yThere are only 2 dishes I cook that are vegan compliant. If I happened to be cooking one of those two things sure I'd give some to the vegan. But I'm not going to change things up just to accommodate them.
00 Reply Lots of vegans annoy me because they think they're so much better than everyone else and try to force it upon other people.
But if someone is just a chill vegan, I don't have a problem with them.20 ReplyI ate vegan for like six or seven months not all that long ago. I didn't mind it all that much, personally.
I have meat and eggs a few times a month now, and thus I voted D.00 ReplyI am a vegetarian but I actually eat a lot of vegan foods, too - the only things I eat that vegans don't eat are dairy yoghurt & eggs so.. I guess it wouldn't be too hard for me to cook vegan :)

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yVegans are some of the most annoying humans on the planet, they are just utterly painful. Why can they not just live their life without constantly explaining to anyone how isn't the "benefits" or shaming the meat eaters, or constantly talking about it.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI could never live on a vegan diet, if I don't eat at least 3000 calories a day, I starve to death. I'm 6'4 and weight 81 Kilograms. I can eat whatever I want and can barely gain weight. Also, I eat lots of dairy products and lots of meat.
