Do your genes effect how your teeth grow out?

Both my parents have straight , big roundish teeth. I have rather flat teeth and they used to be really crooked, that I had to pull 6 teeth to make enough space to straighten them

Yes its genetic, but there are many genetic factors. If you grit your teeth that will also flaten out the teeth as well. As for crookedness that could be due to spacing, how they come in, size of the jaw, number of wisdom teeth etc. The amount of widom teeth varies from person to person and by extention the amount of pressure they place on the teeth around them will vary resulting in various degrees of deviation. The amount of wisdom teeht and jaw size is due to evolution at work. Basicly humans had a more elongated jaw (it can be found in certainain people, you'll notice a slighty protruded mouth) to accomadate the wisdom teeth which where used for breaking and grinding seeds and such, since most people live in agrarian based societies they switched from seeds and nuts to grains and corn so their jaws became flatter and protruded less, this however left little room for the wisdom teeth which then press up against the other teeth pushing them out of alignment, which then also effects the area which is used resulting in uneven surface do to chewing. So yes its genetic but there are other factors.

No genes don't have anything to do with teeth growth. It's almost like height cause its going to be random.
