how many days should I take off between training different body parts. My legs have been sore for three days. I want to go for a jog and was wondering if I should continue to rest or just go get my workout done.
48hours between major muscle groups is sufficient. So a typical lifting program from Mon-Sat would entail:
Chest/Back>Legs>Arms/Delts>Chest/Back>Legs>Arms/Delts

Depending on volume 1 to 2 full rest days is sufficient. For high volume workouts 2 rest days before you hit that muscle again.

Alternate muscle groups and workout 4-6 days a week, having one complete rest day (or do cardio) once a week.
