But I don't know what the right number is?
I am a type 1 diabetic who takes care of himself. Life expectancy?
But I don't know what the right number is?
My dad was diagnosed with diabetes I don't know which type tho. He has kidney failure, heart disease and a lot more. This is bc he never payed attention to what he's eating. He was diagnosed almost 30 years ago.
I suggest you to start changing your lifestyle. Eat healthier foods preferably if its home cooked, start exercising at least 3 times a week, dont drink too much alcohol, quit smoking if you are smoking
Sorry to hear that. I do all of that!
Yea thanks haha
Oh and if really want to drink just have a glass or two of red wine, not white wine cause white wine has more sugar in it. And drink plenty of water daily, cause you dont want to end up having kidney failure. Combine running and swimming for your exercise, this should keep you away from having heart disease.
Granted you're managing I super well, you could look at a pretty normal life span.
I have some type 1s in my family that lived to be 80 ish
And my type 2 grandpa is 85.
So its all how you manage it
Thanks! I also have a grandma that has had type 2 for 45 years (she is 85) and doing fine

You will be fine. You have to factor in that with diabetes, A LOT of people don't properly take care of themselves like they are supposed to. They are the ones at higher risk for complications. Live a healthy life, keep up with your meds and watch your sugar... you will live a normal life.
