Favourite tennis player?

In the spirit of the Australian Open, who is your favourite tennis player, past, present, male, female, why?

I probably can't name just one. I starting playing tennis during the Sampras/Agassi days, so those two will always top my list.

Right now, I always root for David Ferrer. I just love guys with such unbelievable work ethics and great sportsmanship; this player is the perfect role model for young tennis players, in my opinion. He obviously has some natural ability (can't play at that level if you don't) but his position is due almost entirely to hard work and dedication and he NEVER quits on a point. Hell, he'd be down 0-6, 0-6, 0-5, 0-40 and he'd still play that point just as hard as any before it.

And of course, being American, I always have to root for big John Isner. :) You can't help but love the symphony of Djokovic, Federer and Murray when they're on, though... the best are always fun to watch.

For women, I like Sharapova for her sheer competitiveness, Simona Halep for her great speed and feet, and the rising American star, Madison Keys. Garbine Muguruza is starting to grow on me a lot, too (even though she's out of the Aussie Open now), and if you can't appreciate the wizardry of Agnieszka Radwanska, you just don't like tennis. Her defensive skill and court IQ remind me a lot of Martina Hingis.

Purely on the hot scale: Ana Ivanovic. ;)

I like the underdogs; my favourite guy players before was Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick. I also like Andy Murray; they just all happened to start with A as their first name. For females I like Caroline Wozniacki, Ana Ivanovic and Eugenie Bouchard since I'm Canadian

Sam Groth is another one i like. as for internationals, Nadal was great but now he's an embarrassment -.- Jo Wilfried Tsonga and Gael Monflis are awesome too. I'm not into women's tennis.

My favorite players are Maria Sharapova and Novak Djokovic.

Both are great champions.
