Will eating less or a drastic diet change make me tired?

About three weeks ago I moved and my diet changed.

I drink mostly water, by mostly I mean water is all I drink unless I go out to eat (About once every two weeks) I'll sometimes order sprite and refil water.
I eat one big meal a day usually. (To me personally a big meal is two bowels of cereal or like 3 bowels of salad) and I snack on fruits or vegetables sometimes poptarts.
I go through a minimum of five 16.9 ounce water botteles a day so I'm drinking enough water. My new roommates are gym rats and I started working out with them, but I get really tired afterwards and I have insomnia (doctor diagnosed) so in general I never sleep this much and I was wondering if my new diet is because of it?

Before I lived with my parents so I had less control of groceries and my usual diet was like one bottle of water, breakfast, lunch, dinner, lots of juice and soda and snacks foods like snack cakes and such.
