Will I be okay over night leaving my infected toenail (some gross details)?

Sunday night I reefed too hard on a door and it split my nail almost tearing one half off. It's half attached. I cleaned it up and let it dry, then I bandaged it. I made the mistake of getting it wet in the shower. I pressed down to dry it with a paper towel and pus started pouring out of it. It instantly felt less swollen from the pressure being released and then started bleeding after the pus had come out. I didn't feel it required an emergency visit but all of the clinics were closing and not taking anymore patients. I called the nurse line and she asked me if I had a fever I said no. She said that because of the pus and the rotten smell I shouldn't leave it unchecked by a doctor for more than 12 hours but I don't really have a choice as the hospital close to me closes at 8. I really don't know if it's necessary that I travel all the way across town just to wait in a waiting room for hours? Do you think the nurse just said that about the 12 hours to save their asses for legal reasons? Long story short my question is should I make my way to the hospital or should I just wait until tomorrow to make it to the clinic at the end of my street?
