look for a program that suits your schedule. For example, I have the time to work out 2 hours a day, 5 days a week, so thats what I do. My teammate is much busier than me, so he only does full body workouts (squat, bench, deadlift, overhead press, rows) three days a week, and has great success that way. Look at Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. 45 minutes a day, 3 days a week.

before you go to sleep for 2 hours, do 45 pushups/pullups divide it into 3 steps, 15 each. do your regular legs excercises, you can train your back, shoulders, etc using a chair or anything you can put your both hands on... you can bring gym your home... if you want to really build some buff that requires a real gym.
You always have time to go to the gym. When I worked membership sales at a corporate chain LA Fitness and got this excuse, I would go ahead and have them read me their schedule, and then I would write everything down and calculate it out. 95/100 people still had time to train about 5 days a week. Calisthenics and endurance training can be beneficial, but as far as aesthetics, the gym will always be the optimal choice of training.
Better shape as in lose a few pounds? Or better shape as in tone it up a bit?
