How do I talk to my boyfriend about my upcoming hemorrhoid surgery? I'm so embarrassed?

I'm quite young, so it's already crazy that I have such bad hemorrhoids. They're a result of an autoimmune disease which affects my lower intestines. He already knows that I have many digestive issues and has been really supportive of it, and I'm sure he has seen my hemorrhoids since we've been intimate but we've never acknowledged them...

SO, they've gotten bad enough that they effect every part of my life... bleeding through my clothes, extremely painful. My gastrointerologist says that they only solution at this point is in-patient surgery which means that I will be having a relatively invasive surgery where I will be staying overnight in the hospital. I won't be able to have sex or do anything strenuous for about a month.

We live together so this is going to be very difficult to hide... I've mentioned that I may have to get surgery relating to my autoimmune disease but I have not told him what. PLEASE give me some advice.

Just tell him you need to talk to him about something, then just tell him truthfully. You've already stated that he's understanding, so he should be fine, and accept your temporary limitations post surgery. Just tell him, you'll be fine.

Meh, don't worry. Tell him, if he loves you he will completely understand and wait. I don't think sex is more important than the health of his love.

If my girlfriend was having that kind of surgery I wouldn't be grossed out. I would help her through all this.

And if you think a minute it will be a good reason for him to take even more care of you :p

If he's been understanding and accepting so far I doubt he'd have any problems with this. It's regarding your health so if he loves you he'll support you. I know it's embarrassing but I highly doubt he'll react negatively. Good luck! Xx
