I looked up at the solar eclipse and now I'm scared?

Okay so I had sunglasses on and I forgot about how your not suppose to look at a eclipse so I looked up at the eclipse for maybe 8 seconds in total and now I'm scared that I might of got damage I don't really feel anything yet but this happened a hour ago and the clouds were covering it mostly do you think I should go to the we doctor soon? I'm 100% serious

Going to the doctor soon won't really do much. As in, there's nothing they can really do to prevent any damage that might've occurred.

Since you looked at it for only 8 seconds, you'll probably be fine. Most symptoms don't show up immediately. Apparently it takes 10-20 hours for the symptoms to actually being. Even so, most people will 'recover' from whatever damage was caused to their vision so.. don't freak out just yet. You'll probably be fine. :)

we had one when i was about 8 or 9 and i looked at it but nothing really happened, i doubt there's anything wrong with you lol i didn't even know u werent meant to look

You may have caused a small amount of damage but as long as your vision is back to normal you shouldn't worry

@Decentguy Yes, from what I have read, the rays of light coming around the edges of the eclipse are much more intense then regular rays, which can cause burning of the retina. You eye doesn't really feel pain so by the time the damage was done you wouldn't know it.

Woah. you know i honestly didn't knew that yesterday was eclipse, and i was wondering why the sky is soo yellowish, by sitting in my room and watching it through my gallery, im glad i haven't got out that time and look at the sky, lol

Everyone will say you are fine, but you aren't, did you look at full eclipse or partial, if partial doing mess with your eyes, that are delicate. What I will say does not mean go to the doctor right now, but pay a visit in the weekend, your eyes are worth it after all. Also, did your eyes hurt? just curious

It was a partial and no not really I mean I eyes do feel a bit different like they don't hurt but my forehead and eye region feels a bit spacey at the moment like I'm walking on clouds or something it's hard to explain but besides that I feel fine

8 seconds should not do any real damage to be honest. And even if it did damage your eye, it would be so minor you wouldn't notice. Look , if you look at the sun on a regular day would you get blind no, same rules apply in an eclipse. It is only dangerous in longer periods of time. The sun cannot change it's brightness like a smartphone

But what I told you previously was that our eyes are probably the most sensitive organ in our body, so it wouldn't hurt to visit the doctor

If you had eye damage you would have noticed by now and any minuscule amount of damage you might have can't be fixed by a doctor anyway and might even heal itself.

They recommend things with enough headroom for us to avoid damage if we overstep a little. You'll be fine.

it's a myth. no worse than looking at the sun, period, and it takes a good amount of sun to do permanent damage. worst you'll get with 8 secs of shade? white will appear yellowish for a few minutes

You're likely fine, but just call an eye place and ask them if you need to be worried at all. If for no other reason then to ease your mind.
