I've struggled with migraines for a long time, getting a prescription strength medication was the only thing that finally helped. However, there are some things that can ease the pain if your headaches are not too bad.
1. Applying a cold compress helps for me, but again, I have migraines. WebMD recommends using a heating pad or warm compress placed on the back of your neck for tension headaches. www.webmd.com/.../5-ways-to-get-rid-of-headache
2. Some sources I've read claim peppermint oil and lavender oil can give relief for headaches. The scent, and rubbing a few drops directly on your forehead, temples, and back of your neck can help.
3. Drink lots of water. Sometimes if you're slightly dehydrated, that can cause a headache. Making sure to drink enough water can also help prevent future headaches.
4. Try to rest. Close the curtains in your room to make it as dark as possible and see if that helps.
There are a lot of other natural remedies in this link too. draxe.com/natural-headache-remedies-relief/ Hopefully you'll find at least one or a combination of these things helpful.

Proper neck stretches help some.. The only way really though is to keep the side that is tense relaxed
