Can you stunt your growth weight lifting?

I don't take any supplements at all, or steroids, but my mum, dad and older brother still go on and on about doing higher reps, and not stunting your growth, I already do 8-12 reps, I don't understand what's wrong with them, I really enjoy weight lifting and it keeps me off the streets or doing other bad things.
