Happiness is all that matters. I will say however, being body positive whilst being overweight won’t prevent a stroke and a heart attack. I’ll repeat that happiness is all that matter and if one of the larger folk are happy, so be it. Just think about how you’re a higher risk to take up medical resources than those who are slimmer. Forget body positive and get away from the repugnant media. Be health positive. The world is mad.
It is an excuse. Because: There is no need to trumpet one's feelings to everyone, unless I have a problem. When I then respond to my problem by saying that there is no problem, it all becomes a comedy. ''Movements'' like this will not bring solutions. It's a situation like ''Trump, or not Trump'' / Guns or no guns / etc.
There are a lot of people who are unwilling to give up the part of their identity that struggles with their weight. I grew up with two obese parents (all five of us siblings are in exceptional shape) I've heard all the excuses.
No people don't have to be insta fit or models, people don't always have to be slim, it's okay to be overweight. My issue with the body positivity movement is it gives people an out when they're still gonna complain about their weight anyway.
Like almost all matters regarding human beings, it depends on how people use it. Some people are able to manifest some sense of value through the awareness offered by the movement. Others are using it as an excuse to be shiftless, and still demand special treatment for the myriad of health problems and inconveniences that come with being overweight.
Yes but I wonder why the body positive movement rarely celebrate people with unique looks or visible disabilities or heck even really skinny people (if they use the excuse health then they need to prove being fat is healthy).
Almost. It's an excuse to force people to think you are attractive, no matter your body type. Total bs. Be how fat you want, I don't give a shit. But come tell me you're attractive when you look like the Stay Pufft Marshmallow Man, and I'm going to disagree.
More of a justification for it. What we need is a fat tax and to force fat people to pay extra for the space they take up in planes, trains, buses, movie theatres, night clubs etc.
I personally believe it means that everyone is beautiful no matter their size. That doesn't mean that overweight/underweight people should be proud of being unhealthy, it just means that they are still beautiful.

No, it's about demotivating people from restraining themselves, limiting their excess consumption, and keeping in good health- offering them false reassurance that "you're still beautiful no matter how bad, unfit or immobile you are", so that they'll keep stuffing their faces and fueling the consumerist culture of the West.

No it is not about saying it is okay it is about motivating them to loose weight and tell them that they are beautiful. For example I'm underweight and I won't do better if you tell me I'm ugly and I shouldn't be seen in society. But I Think we should have People who are healthy weight that models and all heights. Not underweight or overweight (mostly but sometimes) because it can send the wrong message.
Obesity is unhealthy, often leading to diabetes and heart disease. We want to encourage people to lead healthy, active lives. Insulting people for being obese might not be the best idea, though (discouraging them from continuing on their current path is justified).
It is in fact an excuse to get fat and remain fat. It's an excuse to sit around and much cookies and pizza drink cokes all day while talking on the phone watching TV or playing video games. This is where women in a lot of Europe really shine compared to here in the states, that and not all tattooed up.
Not necessarrily. I think it's closer to being more comfortable in your own skin. It doesn't mean you should stop caring about how you look or your health. It just means you shouldn't think bad about yourself just because you're not model material.
It can be both. Some people are losing weight and are just tired of criticism and just want to follow their diet in peace. Some like to be fat, they like how their body looks overweight and are aware and capable to handle the consequences. Some are damaged by it. They don't understand the health problems they have and the movement is preventing them to become healthy.
The idea behind it is that not everyone has to look model perfect and a little extra weight here or lack of weight there is good. This is a good idea and 100% support it. But now I think it has become a excuse for being overweight by choice

Yes, but it depends. If someone looks like they have trouble walking or just like a tank because of their obesity and they're trying to promote it, then yes, they're using it as an excuse. However, if the person promoting it just looks like they got a bigger but or some perfectly fine curves & yet they get bullied for it, then it's about genuinely trying to raise positivity.
being fat can be okay since you can be healthy and fat but being really underweight or obese can be bad and I think some use it as an excuse so that they don't have to put the effort into exercising or eating healthy
There's a reason they're called "over" and "under" weight - because it's "over" and "under" a healthy weight. You can't be fat and healthy, that's a myth that fat people like to encourage to justify it.
you can be healthy overweight or underweight it just depends like where you fat is distributed and how much muscle you have and for underweight it depend on underweight you are.

I think the fat lazy people that don’t care about their health will for sure use it as an excuse.

Yes it is. Being happy with your body is one thing but being healthy is another.
Different people have different lines on where the healthy unhealthy line lives.
But the body positivity movement has the line way too far into the overweight section.
Obesity is unhealthy, often leading to diabetes and heart disease. We want to encourage people to lead healthy, active lives. Insulting people for being obese might not be the best idea, though (discouraging them from continuing on their current path is justified).

Basically it varies from person to person.

This post shows that girls, not all, will believe the most retarded s**t so long as it evokes a somewhat positive (perceived) emotion.
Not saying men are better of perfect or anything.
