Big no if they feel uncomortable and probably for no reason just their perception that's their problem and isn't a reason to do that. Also if there's women hours there must be mans hours and how's that going to be fair when people have different schedules which fits into that woman hours time group. Also discounted prices since you can't charge the full price when we get a reduced amount time in your contract. The major reason though is it's illegal you can't legally offer a memebership for women at a certain time and not because it qualifies as gender discrimination and refusing to offer as service based on a reason involving discrimination is illegal.
When I first started school I had a classmate who was obese and she told me she would exercise during woman only hours cause she felt embarrassed by her body. Most woman don't care about that but some do and if you are insanely beautiful - you could be in danger of sexual assault or rape. I've had two people try to rape me when I was younger - one guy spent 2 years planning my murder and built a torture chamber for me in his basement.
To each his own. I guess if a girl feels too uncomfortable around men to work out around them it’s a good thing. I’m more bothered that society is slowly going down this slope where men and women are segregating from each other. Surely we can find a way to get along.
@belarus Never thought that! Well, when they come to South America they're all annoying actually, doesn't matter what nationality so I couldn't tell this fact
@morena9 That's wonderful to hear. I find young men annoying over here, but I probably was when I was their age too. I'm open minded and not trying to invalidate the statement that was made above. I would just like some evidence for a statement presented as fact rather than opinion. I certainly don't beleive it to be the case though. I think that all populations have a percentage of obnoxious people. It's disappointing to read that opinion. I don't know many Aussie men who are extremely unpleasant.
I think they just want to feel special or something. I mean how do you know a guys even staring at you? I go to the gym a fair bit and well put it this way i’m not that desperate for sexual encounters with girls.
I dont think it's necessary. If they're gonna allow females only hours at the gym then they should allow males only hours at the gym. Some guys dont like being stared at at the gym too.
I dont pay attention im there to release stress negative energy.. if we make eye contact I smile but what gets annoying is when they try and talk to you.. its like if you want to talk to me wait till im about to leave.. tried to do a buddy to work out and I just can't carry a conversation and work out at the same time
The policy itself isn't what annoys me, it's the reason behind it. Guess what, we all get stared at. Doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman. Should lesbians be banned from female only hours because they'll stare? If you really love your privacy, go work out in your own home.
I mean I get the idea.. But why not just make a female only gym or somethin, and not interrupt hours for dudes.. I think society is coddlin women a little too much honestly.. I get some get uncomfortable.. And like I mentioned a women's only gym is don't seem like a problem.. But women ain't babies, and guys ain't straight beast.. LOL..
The thing that pisses me off is the presumption that I want to look at their ugly fat accepted asses and that I would get blocked out for that. Again, I am a rapist for being male, so f their gym and I would quit. They can just turn it female only because I don't give a sht, I have my own private gym anyways. F that gym…
Female only hours is too drastic and would not make sense. Some people only have certain hours that they can gym. I do think female only areas is a must though. For that matter ( for the equality ponies) , we can have a men only area too. I do not mind. But I can relate to not wanting to do certain exercises with men around cause yes, they look and it is not nice.
Then we should get male-only gym time or else it's sexist. This whole "Female Only" or "Female Safe Space" trend is getting out of hand. What's next? Restaurants? Shopping malls/stores? Men can only walk on one sidewalk so women can have their own? The gym is a public place and has nothing to do with sex or gender.
Only if it didn't interrupt my gym routine (i. e. the hours were outside usual gym hours). Otherwise, id feel neglected by my gym. The only exception would be if women pay more for that privilege and the discount is passed onto the men's membership costs.
If someone pays for a gym membership they should be able to visit it whenever it's open. How ever I don't see anything wrong with female only gyms. I'd assume guys are staring at you while squating are doing it for other reasons than they'd do with a female squating. Some women can't go through a workout without getting some dumb comments. Or they just feel more comfortable around other women.
What makes you think this is for women only? Men have been dealing with this since forever. The fitness revolution started in the 1960's and men and women had gone to gyms since then. Nobody was bothered by these kinds of things until recently, why is that?
I didn't say male only gyms shouldn't exist. And I once asked wheter men would prefer male only gyms but basically everyone said they don't mind women being there and many even said they liked it cause they gave them motivation for their work out. That's why I assumed men don't mind that much. But if they do, I'd support the idea of male only gyms too.
I don't think it's unrealistic at all. If there is a need for it and someone could make money out of them, they'd exist. But even if we are that backwards that we think it's fine to have female only gyms but not male only gyms, the problem is not the existence of female only gyms but the refusal to let men have the same thing.
Yes it is, but I still think most men don't mind since I once asked that question and no one seemed to mind. So I don't think political pressure is the reason for the lack of male only gyms. In my experience men are already pretty secluded in the gym cause barely any women do heavy weight lifting.
Eh. Maybe. Problem is when to do it. I have only a limited time to use the gym per day, and if female only hour happened to fall during that time, then I'd simply have to stop going (And thus stop paying).
Maybe if they allowed guys in who can't see much beyond general shapes more than 5 ft from their face?
Bad idea. First, there are not enough females in gyms to be able to fund such an idea through their memberships. 2nd, there are guys that can only go to a gym at certain hours and this would negatively affect them. I think a better option would be to create a section of the gym that is dedicated to females.
I think that women-only hours are a great thing. Especially if you can a find a good time for the women who have children to go.
You just do it a few times per week, so that the women who feel uncomfortable with your male clients can get their workouts in at a healthy frequency.
Men need to find a way to appreciate women without gawking. It's not hard to refrain from making sexual comments about your neighbor's daughter every time she walks into your convenience store.
It's interesting that half a century after the Civil Rights movement and the emergence of feminism that there is a push for re-segregation. You see this on college campuses with black student groups wanting black-only student housing and with the women who are the subject of this question wanting segregated gym time.

Guys haven’t made me feel uncomfortable the couple of times in my life that I went to the gym. They’re too busy looking at each other, like u said. Men are way more attracted to other men.

A sexual assault on the scale of rape is pretty rare in the gym.
They could follow you outside the gym. It happened to my cousin when a guy stalked her and she got rid of him by telling him she knew karate.
“she got rid of him by telling him she knew karate.” 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣.
I don’t believe that for a second.

Some people don’t want the alternative energy near them during certain times. And personally, I consider working out as an intimate activity.
If guys don’t like it or find it unfair, they should just band together and petition for male only workout spaces.
I understand that many guys just don’t care enough to do all that. But women do. And It’s not hurting anyone, so I don’t see the big deal.
We used to have Male only gyms here in Australia. The Feminists petitioned that it was sexist and exclusive... and bam.. no more.
We still have female only gyms though because that's not sexist or exclusive.. 🤔🤔
@Grobmate Australian guys have the distinction of actually being more obnoxious than American guys. And that a hard one to beat!
@belarus Really? That is very Interesting. Could you provide some evidence to support your finding?
@belarus Never thought that! Well, when they come to South America they're all annoying actually, doesn't matter what nationality so I couldn't tell this fact
@Grobmate Oh! Goodness, I left my scientific survey on the bus. It's just an opinion mate, don't get your panties in an uproar.

@belarus I don't wear panties lol and nor are my undergarments in a bunch. The way you presented it is as if it were factual and not opinionated.
No that's silly, everyone is entitled to use the gym at anytime they want. Why does everyone want to cause so much segregation?
I think they just want to feel special or something. I mean how do you know a guys even staring at you? I go to the gym a fair bit and well put it this way i’m not that desperate for sexual encounters with girls.

No what makes you think women only feel uncomfortable at gyms?
I didn't say that.
Obviously you think women are bothered more at gyms than men since you believe female only gyms should exist.

Thats a fairly unrealistic thing to support given the political climate I am in in Europe.
I don't think it's unrealistic at all. If there is a need for it and someone could make money out of them, they'd exist. But even if we are that backwards that we think it's fine to have female only gyms but not male only gyms, the problem is not the existence of female only gyms but the refusal to let men have the same thing.
There is a lack of political representation for this interests, its possible that businesses close because of political pressure.
Yes it is, but I still think most men don't mind since I once asked that question and no one seemed to mind. So I don't think political pressure is the reason for the lack of male only gyms. In my experience men are already pretty secluded in the gym cause barely any women do heavy weight lifting.

Hey, girls at the grocery store make me feel uncomfortable, from now on they can only shop in the early mornings or late at night, okay?
Oh, you mean nobody gives a fuck if a man feels uncomfortable?
Well nevermind then, just keep treating all women like goddesses while we treat men like crap. I'm sure nothing bad will happen.
Bad idea. First, there are not enough females in gyms to be able to fund such an idea through their memberships. 2nd, there are guys that can only go to a gym at certain hours and this would negatively affect them.
