And Im currently 160 pounds
Which range should be ideal for me?
Probably not more than 120 pounds. I'm just an 1/2 taller and when I got up to 130 when I was going through menopause I was having a hard time walking upstairs. I feel much better when I'm between 115 and 120. Now I have a small body build so it really depends on what type of body build you have.
Yeah
I still want muscle..
So 120 pounds is good
My friend is same height and she's 120
she's really fit now
Don’t focus on the number on the scale so much if you feel you are heavier and you aren’t as physically fit as before or less self confident due to the extra weight take action and eat better and workout
Never look at the standard it is out of date and inaccurate. Bmi also does not give you what your ideal weight should be. What you want is an optimal ideal weight for you and not a generalized one.
I mean that's up to you, BMI is just a scale of what the average person is around that height. Me personally I like my women on the thicker side so I guess it depends what your going for

Up to 120 if your muscles are at least well-toned. About 110-112 if they aren't.
Please don’t listen to these people saying “whatever weight makes you feel comfortable. Don’t look at the scale.”
No. Scales were made for the purpose of tracking your weight so you can track your health. According to Rush. edu’s article Health and Wellness you’re obese.
Now that’s not a shot at you. Obese/overweight are NOT bad words and they shouldn’t be considered insults. When a person is obese it means they are overweight and if left unchecked could affect their health in the future.
Their article says for a person who’s 5’1
Healthy weight is between 100-131 lbs
Overweight is 132-157 lbs
Obese is 158-206 lbs.
So you’re barely at that point. I will say that what kind of weight also makes a difference. My dad is 5’7 and the charts says he’s overweight, however, it’s mostly muscle. He’s in better shape than most men his age (he’s 69 something). He used to be a bodybuilder.
I’m following his lead. I’m 5’5 and weight 145. I’m 4 pounds away from being overweight but it’s all muscle. So I wouldn’t take the chart literally
You don’t have to weigh 97 lbs. Don’t beat yourself up or starve yourself trying to become a size zero. You’d probably be fine at the 130’s. But once you get to the point of obesity is where I’d start getting concerned especially because you’re very young.
This was pulled from a website and with all medical things it’s best to consult your doctor for sound advice. There’s nothing “wrong” with being overweight or being at a good weight. It doesn’t make a person bad or less important than anyone else. It just means that their health is steadily being put at risk. Weight is like a timer. When the number hits a certain integer it’s an indicator that a person needs to exercise more and eat healthier OR risk their health.
These labels overweight, obese and scales were never made to make people feel bad about themselves and they shouldn’t be used that way. Being overweight doesn’t make a person bad. These labels are meant to warn people about their health. Unfortunately we live in a society where people will make fun of and humiliate people with these things and so there’s a lot of stigma with the terms and society is slowly starting to turn the tables and now people can’t talk about health without being accused of being “fat shammers” or “shallow jerks.”
Consider using the Body Mass Index (B. M. I.) to decide that.
www.nhs.uk/.../
This calculator takes into account not just height & weight, but also other factors involved in your health-risks: age, sex, race, etc. Granted, it's not created by a medical-professional (but an insurance-statistician), so it's more concerned with your medical-expense risks and fails to differentiate muscle from fat. But it still has some value.
For health, consider body-fat percentage. Standards of beauty vary across societies, eras, and individuals (and even contradict), but health is generally regarded as universally beautiful. (Would you rather want an unidentified, but fresh fruit or a familiar orange that's rotting, but spray-painted to look fresh?)
Brutal starting point, but you can do this.
I had a friend lose 60 pounds in the past year. He can do it, so can you. It will be hard on your body so prepare for a journey and decide with all your soul that you want this, you'll need that affirmation to power through.
How long can you run without stopping? Work on increasing that. Cardio is gunna save you. Cut out processed sugar, quit that shit, beer must go as well. You are likely addicted to many kinds of tastes, you are gunna have to let go of these. Don't make it hard on yourself, rip that band aid off.
Agree with what some people are saying about not going too fast, but at the beginning you don't wanna worry about that.
Holy crap.
My wife is 5'4" and she runs between 105 and 108. At her heaviest she was in the high teens. That is being 44 years old and after two kids.
You running nearly 50 lbs over her and your still college age.
I've attached a 1950's guideline from MetLife on ideal weight for men and women. Your running 44-56 lbs over assuming medium build. Even if that guide is off 50%, your still 22-28 lbs over.
Weight means nothing, I have a large muscle mass so I will never be in the "ideal" weight.
They adjusted the weights because for a while they thought those standards were too thin and I think that when so many people were starving themselves to be thin. Probably somewhere between the old standards and the new standards is as good weight. According to the old charts I was a normal weight for my height back in the 70s but I think I was a bit thin. I had a hard time gaining weight at the time. I, also, wasn't eating out a lot either.
Speaking as someone who's 83 pounds, 80-100 pounds isn't ideal for anyone, unless maybe they're like 4'9 or below. I'm an inch shorter than you & apparently my minimum healthy weight is 95 pounds, so yours would be at least 100. I would say, be at least 100 pounds so your body can function properly, but after that, simply focus on eating healthy and exercising to make sure you're healthy.
100 pounds too skinny
I still want muscle..
So 120 pounds is good
My friend is same height and she's 120
she's really fit now
Hard to tell.
To little to go on.
Even if you gave more the part of observe and squeeze poke at different places on your body is missing. for starters.
Also weight is also totally off to measure if someone is in a the proper area for their body that is healthy for them in the long run.
Muscle have high weight than fat per volume unit. Water have higher weight per volume unit.
Nadia Comaneci was 4'11" and weighed only 86 pounds at the time of the 1976 Olympics and she was perfect. Therefore, if age 14, at 5'1" you should weight (51/49)^3 * 86 = 97 lbs. However, you are older so add 10 pounds or 1 lb per year until age 24 = 107lbs. Even then, it depends on your body type. If you naturally stocky and big boned add another 5 to10 pounds.
I'm 5'2" & currently 115 lbs. (I was 155 a decade ago.) I'm aiming for 110 lbs (if not 105) but I have stubborn belly blubber that I've been struggling to shed off.
120lbs is healthy for your height
My ex was 5'1" and she was 105lbs
My previous ex was 5'3" and 135lbs
You should talk to your doctor or a nutritionist and come up with a game plan to lose those extra pounds it's not healthy
Whatever weight you feel comfortable at. You put a pretty limited list of options on the poll so I didn't respond. You're not big, and I wouldn't think you'd be unhealthy because of your weight. And tbh, it doesn't make you unattractive either.
Whatever makes you feel comfortable (as long as you’re healthy and happy).
800 lbs. no actually whatever weight you feel comfortable
I am 5'10 and I weight 175lb, I workout 5 days a week. My mom is relative healthy. She is 5'6 and weights around 110.
There are charts which tell you medically what Is best. But I feel like whatever your weight you can be happy.
That depends on your bone structure and lean mass.
See where things stand once you're sub 130. You don't need to decide now ;)
You may need to loose some. Now you may not be meant to be a small small person. So don't go by the numbers so much. Try thinking about your eating and try to cut back consistently. See where it goes
Lose how many pounds?
I have no idea since it's in inches, but a rule of thumb in centimeters is that your weight should be around the number after the dot. So 1.50m should weight around 50kg and 1.80m should weight around 80kg give or take
I looked up BMI (Body Mass Index). Plugging in your height, the approximate value for your weight should be in the 50kg-range.
Yea my goal is around 53kg to 57kg
Good. I'm also trying to get to the 'normal' range when it comes to my weight. Over 5 years ago, I started the process at 108kg (BMI 33.7 - Obese). I'm now at 82.8kg (BMI 25.8 - Overweight)
I would not aim for a weight range, rather for a body goal, how you want your body to look like.
