I don't know about watching my weight, I watch my weight often and it doesn't vary... Usually people who check their weight all the time don't see much variations, and a lot of people give on diets say a week into them because they gained weight, but that's all to do with adjusting to something, you'd just be safer keeping monitoring down to a minimum. Cardio is useful, you start off sprinting and then slow down to a jog, most people do it the other way, but this way is known to burn calories quicker. Eat little and often, it keeps your metabolism high because you're constantly having to digest food throughout the day. Digestion takes quite abit of fluid and energy for the body. Doing weights is suggested to burn more calories than running, I don't mean to say you should be bulking up... you do light weights and many repititions and sets and it'll burn calories and tone your muscle. Another reason not to be looking the scales is when you initially start you may gain some muscle mass, not much but some... and you may mistake it as taking a step back, but you've really just replaced fat with muscle, and muscle heavier than fat.
Eat less but more often. Starving yourself leads to the body trying to conserve fat. Concentrate more on toning muscle and less on pounds. Fit muscles burn calories all the time and will keep your weight in check for you. Find things to do when you are idle that burn calories like doing little exercises or stretching while watching tv. Be active and don't gorge on unhealthy food, just have a little.
